HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE BBF SOCIETY OF FELLOWS

By becoming a member of the Society of Fellows, you will be joining a distinguished group of philanthropists with an exemplary commitment to fulfilling the present and future legal needs of the Greater Boston community.

The Trustees of the Boston Bar Foundation invite you to join the Society of Fellows by making a pledge at one of the following giving levels:

Executive Fellow $50,000
Senior Fellow $25,000 [New giving level!]
Fellow $10,000
Supporting Fellow $5,000 [New giving level!]
Junior Fellow* $1,000
[*Note: Junior Fellow membership is available to lawyers less than 10 years out of law school]

With a range of pledge levels, membership to the Society of Fellows is available to attorneys of all ages, in varying stages of their careers and from all sectors (i.e., law firms of all sizes, in-house counsel, solo practitioners, government lawyers, lawyers in academia and in the non-profit sector).

Contributions are payable over amaximum of ten years, with an anticipated annual payment of at least 10% of the pledge. When a pledge has been fully-paid, it can be applied towards membership at a higher giving level. Members who have paid $10,000 of their contribution become Life Fellows of the Foundation.

Donations will be dedicated to the Boston Bar Foundation’s permanent endowment and up to 50% may be applied to current operating needs if necessary and approved by the Trustees.

Junior Fellow contributions are payable over four years, or $250 a year, and will be applied towards grants to legal services organizations and towards supporting the work of the BBF.

All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.

The generosity of members of the Society of Fellows is regularly acknowledged through Boston Bar publications such as the Boston Bar Journal, which is distributed to all BBA members, as well as on the Foundation’s website and in other BBF materials. Members of the Society of Fellows at the Supporting level and higher also receive recognition at BBF events, including the annual John & Abigail Adams Benefit Ball, and are invited to a special events throughout the year.
